Having lived in Kingsdown I am well aware of the local coastal erosion and having visited the magical Goodwin Sands a couple of times and seen the wonderful seal colony there, I was determined to join the GSSOS campaign and keen to explore the 2016 reports prepared by Royal Haskoning DHV in support of Dover Harbour Board’s application to dredge the Goodwin Sands – again, and the Crown Estate’s Marine Aggregate dredging and the coastline: A guidance note (2013).
In these documents are numerous examples where DHB have still to answer serious questions regarding additional impact on existing chronic erosion that will result from their further extraction dredging of the Goodwin Sands, a mere 2.5 miles from the coast at Deal and Kingsdown.
