Sir Tim Smit, KBE, Chairman of Eden Project International and owner of the Charlestown Shipwreck Museum, urges DEFRA, the MMO and Dover Harbour Board to each take a step back and reconsider the impact of the rapacious mining of the Goodwin Sands, which he describes as ‘probably the most important site of underwater cultural heritage in the UK’.

I could not have said it better Jules.
This has been going on for a good while now, and Tim Smit has absolutely nailed it.
We should take a step back, mining the aggregate just for a some harbour works, in other words to line someones pocket by saving money is nothing like a good enough reason to destroy, or at best severely damage and desecrate such an important site as the Goodwin Sands, I just hope those wanting to profit from this watch, listen, think about it, and stop. The aggregate is available without touching the Goodwin Sands, it will just cost a little more.
A very small price to pay to protect such an important and delicate site.

Well said sir. Let’s love our heritage. These people that have money will stop at nothing to make more!
